Nothing motivates me more than discovering a new material, even if it's something I've used for a long time and I've stumbled into a new use for it (like handmade paper, wax, resin, acrylic, oils, inks, etc.). I push, pull, tear, layer, mix, cut, glue, and/or bind until an image or acceptable composition presents itself.
I'm always exploring and researching and using day-to-day activities, environments and surroundings for color, texture and composition references and ideas. Discovering what comes from all of this brings about a kind of obsession and a certain sort of satisfaction that I don't always get from my more traditional methods of painting, drawing or sculpting. It's always a challenge.
