Erin was very fortunate to have grown up in a home where interest in the arts was highly encouraged. Although not a wealthy family, her parents took full advantage of all the cultural opportunities that New York City had to offer Erin and her sisters... at little or no cost! Although her earliest interest was in theater (she attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts and later majored in theater in college), painting and drawing were always part of her creative expression and eventually became her primary focus. Although she is self taught as a painter, Erin credits her willingness to experiment, learn and fail as the reason she has become an internationally recognized artist, teacher and author of "Soft Pastel - The Ultimate Workshop." Working predominantly in soft pastel and oil, her work can be found in corporate and private collections in the US, Europe and Asia. Her goal has always been to create art that is not a slave to passing whims and trends, rather, art that continuously provides the viewer with a joyful experience.
